1950 170 A STC

1950 170 A STC
I am trying to find an STC to allow my 170A to fly without the door. We are going to do a parachute jump for our airport appreciation day and need this to be legal. Can you help. I looked thru the ones you have posted and couldn't find one. thanks for any help

This approval is contained in FAA Advisory Circular AC 105-2C, Appdx 2 "Aircraft that may be operated with one cabin door removed. The entire Cessna 170 series is approved without modification.
The above info is from George Horn post. My 170 and another I know about has an approval from the local FSDO to do this. I think at one time an approval was necsessary but according to the above AC it is not. I'd check with your local FSDO and reference the above AC and they should have no problem issueing an approval if one is required.

Bruce, thanks for the help. I know this will do the trick. Our local Fisdo wasn't much help, but this will do it. I knew I could count on the 170 flyers to come thru. Colleen N5416C

seat belts
Be sure you have a seat belt for each jumper. If you take out the back seat you loose two seat belts and limit the aircraft to a two place.

I just went through this when I was approving the 170 for doing the Bucket Drop. The AC gives a list of approved airplanes but you still need a 337 filled out and stamped. On the 337 they will more than likely have you put a comment about continued airworthiness pertaining to who may remove/install the door. I ended up with a placard that stated no loose article in airplane when flyin with the door removed. Other than that it was easy.
