Double-puck brakes are a good idea when mounting oversize tires (oversize being anything larger than what is approved on the original TCDS...in other words...tires larger than 8:00). The increased "arm" of the larger diameter tires require greater braking capability to remain within manageable limits.
However, double-puck brakes on original tire/wheel sizes are not necessarily better.... they may actully increase the likelihood of a nose-over or skidded/blown tires....so don't needlessly think that more...is always better.
