Fishing Rod Tubes.

My seven year old son wants to start bringing his fishing rods on our cross country flights, so we'd like to see some installation photos of Fishing Rod Tubes in our C170s from the membership.

A description of the whole process would be helpful for those of us that are thinking about installing this Mod.
My interior is still out, so this is the time to do it,

George, what documentation does the Association have for fishing rod tubes. Could these things be built out of stove pipe with end caps? Do we have some 337s.

Most I've seen are a PVC pipe stuck through the luggage compartment wall & suspended above the cables from above, by hangers of choice. On the interior side a PVC Cap is all you see.

Aluminum tubing would be best. Stove pipe would become magnetic over time due to vibration, and PVC releases chloride gases in the event of a fire. (PVC should never be used in an airplane.)

I have a whole fishing rod tube kit, ready to go. I just pulled it out of a 180 when I installed an extended baggage. It is a nice lightweight aluminum tube built as an aircraft fishing tube. It is about 36" long and has a hole in the back in case you have a pole that won't break down. It has all the brackets and cross braces. If I had $25.00 for my time packaging it up and the actual parts plus shipping, it'd be yours. I kept it because it was such a nice piece. I would normally throw it away because I'm not a collector of things, but I thought I could find it a good home. It has a small hole(3-4") cut in the headliner just above the hat shelf and went back from there.
