Landing Gear Shim

Post by mike roe »

I wanted to put the early gear back on but I might be missing something. With the early gear in place the wedges seem to be to thin. It slides up to the wedge inner radius and does nothing. I see in the parts book calling out a shim part # 0741007. Would that fix the problem and if so I have misplaced them. I had the lady legs on and everything was fine. Any thoughts.

I'm assuming you had 180 gear on which is a little thicker. I have seen different thickness wedges but in most cases you can just make an additional "L" shaped shim out of some thin steel and lay it on top of the existing wedge and slide the two into place. This will take up that space and allow your wedge to fit good and tight.

I had a set of lady legs installed while sitting in the shop. I must of had the extra shims as called out in the parts book on the original install with the early legs but have misplaced them. I will use your suggestion. I figure the only way I will find them is to make another set.
