Re: scratching my head (Magneto/EGT problem)
OK I have figured it out. As it turns out I have a case of fleas and that was causing me to scratch my head. I did replace the EGT probe and problem solved. It was really interesting how that probe tested OK in place using a blow torch. Prior to replacing it I thought it had to be OK. When I removed it I found damage to the insulation surround the wire. Like most of you my mechanic was saying bad probe. He would just chuckle and say that these probes are a mechanics best friend providing lots of billable time for them. Fortunately he lets me do most of my own work. Took me about 3-4 hours to replace. I now have 15 hours SMOH after prop strike, good to be back in the saddle with all well. Steve
