H Stab Rubber Rock guard

Need some help please. I want to protect my freshly painted 1955B H Stab leading edge. I have a sample section of rubber guard from a 180 that I can get qty of. Question is there a different thinner version used for the 170B? I am asking because it seems it might be difficult to make the slight bend without wrinkles near the outer portion of the stab. Any feed back appreciated.
