Common Areas to Look for Cracks

Post by Grasshopper.Kingdom »

I saw that someone had asked for suggestions on common areas to look for cracks in the 170 airframe and thought I'd seek to start a thread on this topic.

Any suggestions?

I have just gotten a 170A project and see cracks in the sheet metal skin (with stop holes drilled) on the tailcone around where the tail wheel mounting bracket attaches. The tail wheel attach bracket is also cracked and has been welded and the welds are also cracked.

I'm sure I will find other things too.
