Gold Bushing

I have found another part worth more than its weight in Gold - 0442129-1 Bushing Tailwheel Attachment. It lists at $184, but it can be mine for a sweet $138! Mine became married to the bolt that attaches the leaf spring to the tailwheel bracket. Inseparable, they are. I've tried every trick in the book, except drilling the bolt out. Now after all it's been through, I don't feel comfortable re-using it, even if I do get them apart. Does anyone know of a Grainger equivalent? Does it have to be bronze? Shawn

Any even semi competant machinist with a lathe should be able to make one for a hell of a lot less than that.

I just re-did my tailwheel and I'm pretty sure my bushing was steel.
Either way, it should just be a standard part that you can order based off nominal dimensions.

Heat it with a torch and it should expand and release the bolt.

That bushing is indeed steel on my sample tail wheel.

If you can not find a suitable steel bushing or have one made locally, I'd be happy to make you one, to your specifications of course as an owner produced part. I have a lathe for just this type of work, in fact I have two of them, and the required skill according to BL. It might cost you postage to WA to PA or worse you may have to attend a convention and buy me a beer.

I believe you're talking about part number 2, "spacer", ABI-3241-3S, $10.50.

It's the bushing at the other end of the spring pack.

Bruce, thank you for the offer to craft a new one. I was looking for a fellow here in Auburn who is a machinist by trade and who owns a 190, 170, a 185 and various goodies stored in his hangar, like a pristine 80's Porsche 911, a mint 70's Landcruiser, countless classic motorcycles...you name it. And his wife hangs out with him in his mancave! I think he can make it, if I can just find him.
