Scott Tail Wheel torques

Anyone know if there is a specific torque for the mounting of the Scott tail wheel assy to the leaf spring assy or is it just standard torque for the appropriate bolt size? Also anyone know what the bolt torque ss for mounting the leaf spring assy to the airframe mounting bracket or is it also the standard torque for the appropriate bolt size???

John, thanks for the info link, great stuff, good reading, but still did not give me what the bolt torques should be....still on the hunt....

Use standard torque for an AN-7 and account for the lock nut when doing it.

I knew that was coming! Also to make sure the spring is tight in the grove on the tail wheel the looser they are the more likely they get loose when you use the standard torque.

Could the bolt be stretching ?

CHECK THE SHANK-LENGTH ON THAT BOLT.... and make certain that you have sufficient washers (and threads) to prevent the nut from tightening down on the shank! No matter how much torque you place on it.... it won't stay put if it's run out of threads! (I.E., the entire BOLT may be rotating...not just the nut.)

Make sure it's a steel lock nut vs nylon. The latter seem to work loose.
Before over torquing, I'd consider some locktite.

I put some torque seal on mine so I can visually check it during preflight.

I personally have concluded that the nylok nuts are just fine....and metal lock nuts not an absolute requirement...as long as the eyebolt length is considered. After placing an extra washer beneath the nut, the rotation completely stopped.
