Re: FUEL FLOW
Planning about 8 gph seems to work out pretty well for most cross-country flights, including all phases of flight.

Re: FUEL FLOW
In my expeience if you're using 8 gph on a three or four hour flight, you're running somewhat rich. I normally came out at 7 gph or just under flying a TAS of about 110 to 115 mph.

That’s great info for my upcoming cross country!Aryana wrote:12.8 in climb (full rich at sea level, climbing out at 2450 rpm)
7.5 in cruise (leaned aggressively at 2600-2650)
6.0-6.5 in descent (I keep my RPM up when I'm going downhill)
Should I expect similar numbers with my stock C-145 (with Red trim)?

Re: FUEL FLOW
Flying from omaha, Ne to Camarillo, Ca I planned 8 gph which gave a good margin of safety on top of good planning. In actual flight, best I saw was 6.4 gph, worst was 7.1 gph. Flight legs at 8,500 and 10,500, fully loaded with fuel and "junk"(brought an amputee with his wheelchair along). Leaned it out using tach only, stock C-145 with no wheel pants.
Have fun!

Re: FUEL FLOW
You mean the ground moves faster when you're lower..??... holy cow! LOL..... Also, FWIW, I had the xpndr fail and flew most of the flight without one. No DHS black helos or cars met me along the way despite me kinda wishing they would (yes, weird, but I'd enjoy the banter of legality
)

All the above based on the FP5-L fuel computer which has proven to be accurate within +/- 0.2 gallons after filling up an empty tank (EDIT: "empty tank" = 32 gallon fill up with 5 gallons usable remaining). MDM7653 with stock O-300 and RED painted trim. YMMV
Great thanks!
