Does anyone have the Cessna part number for the oil temp probe for an O300D? My plane is a '56 172 with the engine changed to an O300D. I don't have the logs with me so I'm not sure of the year. The oil temp probe is a 2 wire type and I'm having intermittent oil temp displayed. When I don't get oil temp it's pegged low. I asked a friend with an A&P who said it's more likely the probe than the gage.
Thanks.
Frank

Re: O-300D Oil Temp Probe/Intermittent Oil Temp
A second question. After searching further, it looks like the Westach 399s9 sender may be the one I want. It will be installed into an F&M filter adapter on a O 300D. Is this the correct sensor to install for a 2 wire gage?
Thanks.

Aryana,
Do you know of a supplier for a TSO'd mechanical capillary oil temp gauge probe replacement? How long of a capillary tube will I need? Are these more accurate or reliable than the 2 wire type gage?
Also, I just read that F&M Enterprises has gone out of business after the death of the owner. Any idea where the replacement gaskets will come from? The AN-900-28 gasket is easy enough. The leak guard fiber gasket is going to be a bit more difficult.
Thanks for the reply.

The sending unit must be matched to the gauge. Though there might be a standard, I don't know. I'd start by figuring out the manufacturer of the gauge and find a sender that is compatible.

There is NO requirement for a TSO for the original type oil temp gauge in our aircraft.fshaw wrote:Aryana,
