Bad Airspeed Indicator

Post by stevecolby »

During installation of a Stratus ESG ADS-B transponder, testing revealed a leaking airspeed indicator which the avionics shop says was previously, improperly repaired, and needs to be replaced. I'd like to minimize the cost of a replacement. Any recommended sources for used instruments out there?

Where are you located? It's relatively cheap to have them overhauled.
I sent mine up to Keystone Avionics in Pennsylvania and they got it back to me for about $150 a few years ago.
Did a really nice job and re-silk screened the face as well.

Thanks. Just talked to Keystone. They say about $235 now. I'm just not sure if it's repairable based on the avionics shop. I may send it out so they can look at it though.

Keystone is a great place for instrument repair. I was just there a couple of weeks ago to get a tach repaired. I flew in and didn't expect to have it done immediately but flew home with it repaired. Great people to work with.
