Gear box cover
I'm replacing the gear box cover, p/n 0513006-11, because a previous owner added two unapproved inspection holes and the angles which hold the cover down, p/n 0713495-26 and -18, have elongated rivet holes. Could someone tell me how this cover overlaps with the floorboard skin in front and behind it. I'm assuming it is over both. The height of the angles depends on how these skins overlap.

That's ugly! No doubt you'll find some more surprises along the way. All the best of luck with it.

Jim, "ugly" is too kind a word. I'm also finding elongated holes in ribs from a poor wing repair. The good news is that the FAA pulled the A&P's certificate.
The bad news is that they did it after he worked on this plane. You tinsmiths may have some advice for me regarding the ribs. Any alternative to replacing the ribs with elongated holes? MIL-R-47196A allows for a -3 rivet hole to be as large as .135". (See table 1). I don't want to go to -4 rivets but I see that there are "oops rivets", otherwise known as NAS1242AD rivets, that are 1/64" oversize. Those may work for some of the elongated holes but not all.
