I like to use Rapco brand friction-pads because they have a wear-indicator designed into them which can be seen on preflight inspections. (0.100 Inch Minimum)
And just to comment on disc inspections,... everyone should also place a straight-edge across the disc from outer-circumference to outer-circumference to make certain the disc has not warped or "coned" more than 0.015. (of course, the minimum thickness should also be checked....typically 0.205 In) Those numbers are for the typical "Cleveland" conversion kit under STC SA13GL, PN: 199-46. Check which brakes are actually installed on your airplane to be certain.
