I could use an assist on information regarding my oil sump which needs replaced. Its for a C-145, the 3 hole baffle. I do not have the part number, which if anyone could provide I would be grateful for that. (My TCM parts manual literally shows the words "No Number" in the parts number column.) Undoubtedly someone has experience with a failed oil sump and I'd appreciate whatever education you can offer me. Most importantly, any info on where I can find a replacement, or if anyone out there has a serviceable one and would like to sell it. Pretty sure mine is not repairable, see pics attached.
Thanks,

Re: Oil Sump
Jay,
A couple of part numbers I've run across for this sump include 530763, 530488 and 530958. The Continental website lists p/n 653797A4. I doubt any of these numbers will help though; the sumps are generally referred to as three bolt or 5 bolt sumps depending on how many bolts are used to attach the sump to the accessory case. You might try contacting Airworx. They have an FAA-approved procedure for spray welding these corroded magnesium sumps. Also, try looking at the "Continental O-300 Aircraft Pilots/Owners" page on FaceBook. There's a guy there --David Le Jeune -- selling NOS sumps -- not sure if he has the 3 bolt variety though. Another seller, James Halligan, advertised a used 3 bolt there back in 2021 -- don't know if it sold or not.
I compared a three bolt sump to a five bolt sump and found that a five bolt sump will work with a three bolt accessory case. Continental did not move the locations of the three holes when they added two additional holes to make the five bolt sump. Now, the legality of using a five bolt sump with a three bolt accessory case is something you would have to discuss with your A&P.

Re: Oil Sump
Where are you located? I have one but I don’t think pictures will be able to help you decide. The one I have is in good shape. No corrosion and it is a three bolt. But beyond that I don’t know if it would work for you.
If you want to talk my cell is five one six nine oh nine seven seven five seven
EDIT: I see from your area code we are pretty far apart. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow fwiw and email to you to see what you think.

Here are a couple of pictures of the sump I have. I bought this a few years ago from a local mechanic along with a C145-2 case with a data plate but no other documentation. There’s no reason to believe this sump came from that engine although it is a three bolt sump.

Re: Oil Sump
Thanks Gary. I have subsequently come up with the part number and it is 530763A1, its a 5 bolt attach I'm pretty sure. Makes it tough when the overhaul facility has it in their possession. But I am definitely looking at the Fb group and have had others mention LeJeune's name. I just applied for "acceptance" in to that Fb group. So great lead, thanks.n2582d wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:57 pm Jay,

Re: Oil Sump
Thanks much Rich. I'm pretty sure I need the 5 bolt variety. So your 3 bolt won't help me, but if I find out I'm wrong, I'll circle back to you.Richgj3 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 7:05 pm Here are a couple of pictures of the sump I have.
