I have an engine log for an O300D that came with 55D when I bought it. The log starts in 1964 and ends in 1970. It was on 55D from 1967 to 1970 when it was replaced with a new O 300D. Whoever removed the engine did not send the log with the engine. I posted this once before on the CPA site and was told to just throw it away but I put it away and forgot about it until I just came across it. Thought I would see if anyone here is missing a log.

Good for you, I wish more people would do what you're doing. There are a lot of "missing" logbooks sitting on shelves and in desk drawers that could be "found" without a lot of work.

Walt, my plane got an O-300-D engine about that time.

What is the serial number of that engine?

Not only the serialnumber, but also...what do the logs state for the reason for removal?

The log book shows an oil change 7-24-70. That is the last entry except for the install of a strobe light per STC on 5-12-72. and then a scribbled out entry of an aircraft annual 5-18-74. The airframe just says removed the above engine and then reinstalled factory remanufactured engine with a description of the install.

That might explain it. If it were exchanged for a factory reman, then the engine got a new logbook when TCM remfr'd it. and then it would have no previous "service history". The old log would be tossed.
If it were me, I'd keep it with my airframe records.

Yea, I never gave it a thought the old engine would go back to the factory for a reman also. Oh well, just so I learn from my mistakes.
