Does any one know if it is possible to install a baggage compartment belly or Cargo Pod on a 170?
I assume that, if it can be done on a 172,182,206 and even on a 208 caravan, than , why not on a 170?
Juasiel,
Alaska SkyCraft makes them for the C-180/182/185. http://www.alaskaskycraft.net/skypod.html Assuming you could make one of these fit your C-170A and you could get the Mexican aviation authorities to authorize it, could you carry much more than feathers in it and still be under max. gross weight? When I flew Helio Couriers the pods were great because we generally bulked out before getting over gross. With one or two passengers you'll be too heavy with any baggage in the pod. Now if you need to haul day old fish, durian (a very foul-smelling tropical fruit), or crocodiles, a pod comes in very handy. You might consider folding rear seats instead. They weigh less than the original rear bench seat and are FAA approved for the C-170A. http://lakevueaeronautics.com/_wsn/page3.html

My plane is hired for commercial announcements and the equipment that I use is installed on the wings. Wich cause a lot of drag, so thought that I could use a cargo pod and put the speakers inside. The only mod. that I would have to do, would be the holes that I have to cut on the bottom for the speakers. Here is some picks.
Two speakers are not so much drug, but right now I am using four speakers in total.
Thank's for the sites,, good info I got from them.
