Re: L-19 wing replacement stc
Bill,
I have L-19 wings but I didn't put them on and it was done under a 337 not an STC. According to the FAA data base there is an STC to do this but do not know if it is still supported. I also do not know if the STC allowed for the use of the L-19 flap system. My wings have the B model system. The fuel tanks on all the L-19s I've seen including mine have the same size fuel tank so there is no advantage there.
At one time there was probably a lot so surplus L-19 wings so they were a viable source of replacement wings but that is no longer the case. So unless you can use the L-19 flaps and think they would be an advantage over the B model flaps which I don't there is no advantage to buying and using what is now a more expensive wing.
If you had an L-19 wing laying around or you just had to have the hard points for the rocket pods like mine do, then you may have a valid reason to want to use it on a 170.
