Curious, I've got the DelAir but I'm not familiar with KWAD, what or who is it?

Okay, sorry about the confusion I was not at my aircraft logbooks when I was posting, and being new to the 170 I was confusing STOl kit and engine STC. The 180hp mod by KWAD is for a 0-360-A1A and a either a McCauley or a Hartzell C/S prop. I have a flight manual supplement for a 170B, but I am looking for one for an A. This kit was a Doyn Aircraft kit also I believe.

I'm sure I wasn't the only person confused by your heading on this thread. The KWAD STC is a STOL kit that has nothing to do with the 180hp upgrade then?
BTW as you might read on this forum if you take the time to research, you are unlikely to get anything out of the Williams.

Re: anyone else have a 180hp upgrade by KWAD STC?
Several years ago I wasted a month of time searching for the owners of the KWAD STC's and all leads came to a dead-end. KWAD has lots of STC's applicable to the airplane, but they simply fell off the face of the earth. (This is one problem when modifying aircraft with STC's...if a small company or individual dies there is no accountability or further support for the product. Unless the aircraft owner has possession of the original installation instructions and drawings, there's a strong possibility that future inspectors may find they cannot confirm the aircraft continues to meet it's airworthiness requirements of that installation, and must be returned to it's original status or further modified or grounded. And unfortunately, many installers of STC's retain all the documents erroneously thinking they may need them in the future. Those documents should be kept with the aircraft records by the owner.) IF ANYONE HAS ANY ORIGINAL INSTALLATION DOCUMENTS OF STC'S TIC170A WOULD LIKE TO HAVE COPIES. PLEASE CONTACT HEADQUARTERS, BRUCE OR MYSELF TO DONATE COPIES. THANK YOU.
If you have a copy of "The 170 Book" by TIC170A, you will find in the supplement an extensive listing of applicable STC's including the KWAD company. The contact info for many of the STC holders is no longer valid. (Another problem with many STC's... an STC holder may not keep the FAA updated as to contact info...and survivors/heirs of STC's may have no interest in the product, so it becomes "orphaned.")
If you are searching for support information on the STC you may have to contact the FAA regional office. Another knowlegeable person is Harry Dellicker, Porterville, CA as he holds several similar STC's and has assisted owners of similar mods in distress.

The only Doyn conversion I've ever seen called fot the Lycoming O-340 engine. Seems like it was 160 or 165 HP.

My 55170-B has the O-360- A1A Doyn STC, The certificate was issued to- Mid-America STOL Aircraft, Inc. PO Box 53, 614 South Wichita, Wichita, Kansas 67202
I have seen the Doyn 180 hp upgrade on a number of C- 172 as well. I have noticed a slight difference from the avcon conversion, depending on the aircraft year of make.I have lots of paperwork but no drawings.

I have the 337 and a flight manual supplement that shows operating limitations for the engine, do you have more than this? I would like to get copies of anything you might have that I don't if I could. My flight manual supplement is for a 170B. although since it mainly talks about the engine, I figure it would be the same for the A model.

learaviator...it was a tongue-in-cheek rhetorical question. (You had previously wanted contact info on MASA I think?)

learaviator...I forgot to mention that the Supplemental Type Certificate # SA421CE is for both Cessna 170A and 170B
I don't have much more than you have other than an Export Certificate of Airworthiness for 0-360-A1A that mentions the STC # SA421CE
