crankshaft serial number location

Post by canav8 »

Can anyone tell me where the serial number is located on a crankshaft? Is it actually stamped on the crank or is it just in the paperwork? Thanks. Doug

TCM crankshaft serial numbers are stamped upon the propeller flange, sometimes with an engraving pencil. Look on the outer flange, and/or beneath the prop hub.

From TCM MSB99-3C, Crankshaft inspection: CRANKSHAFT SERIAL NUMBER IDENTIFICATION
Crankshaft serial numbers incorporate a manufacturing date. Crankshafts produced in 1998 may be identified
as follows:
Code:
All crankshafts with serial numbers beginning with the letters A through L (Jan. through Dec.) in the first
position and the year code 98 in the fourth and fifth position are affected. This serial number is stamped on the
propeller flange.
'53 B-model N146YS SN:25713
50th Anniversary of Flight Model. Winner-Best Original 170B, 100th Anniversary of Flight Convention.
An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
