Another question Gents.
The IPC for my '48 170 lists the [Brace Assembly-Muffler] as PN 0550125. This, of course, is in reference to the "pancake" exhaust system. Mine is the Hanlon Wilson variety. During the restoration, I removed the existing brace which was quite clearly homemade and simply won't do. Before I locate/purchase PN 0550125, Does anyone know if this will attach properly(allignment-wise) to the stacks from my Hanlon Wilson?

Re: Exhaust Stack Brace
They have different part numbers. There are two part numbers for the later 170B, 0550159 and 0550159-15. Both have been superseded by part number 0550179-1
From CessnaParts.com:
Order 0550179-1 TUBE AY
(List Price: $ 648.00) Stock Available $ 583.20 (EA)
Perhaps the owner produced part you have won't cut it but at $583.20 I'll bet a better fabricated owner produced part might look attractive to you.

Prefered Airparts also has the 0550179-1. They advertize 25% to 85% of list. That's $97.20 if your lucky enought to get 85% off. Owner produced part still looks attractive to me.

Re: Exhaust Stack Brace
I've also got the Hanlon Wilson exhaust. I don't see any brace part numbers so they may have been fabricated. I do know that the previous owner added an additional lower brace that attaches to the carb body. He said it came off of a 172 with an O-300. Hope this helps.

PN 0550159, brace, exhaust stack, SN 20267 thru 25763
PN 0550159-5, brace, exhaust stack, SN 25764 and on
(The later brace actually is better for all serials, as instead of being straight, it has two bends
which stiffen it and is less prone to cracking.)

Re: Exhaust Stack Brace
George, I have item 13 installed but also have another brace which attaches lower on the exhaust pipe. I don't have an IPC for anything but an A model. I'll try and get a picture and post it. The previous owner said he was having problems with the exhaust cracking using the setup you have pictured so he added an additional brace.

Re: Exhaust Stack Brace
The later PN(of item 13) has two bends in it that places it lower on the exhaust tailpipes.
