Rudder Pedal Torque Tube Bearings

Post by hungstart »

OK, question for those that have been in this area before; are there 4 sets of bearings? The IPC only shows 2, but shows 2 required for each position. I assume that that means it takes 2 bearings for each position (an upper and lower bearing). If this is true then I will need 8 bearing halves (4 doubles and 4 singles), is this true? I ordered the number called for in the IPC and I only have 4 bearing halves. Am I going to need to order 4 more bearings?

Since they changed from magnesium bearings to the plastic crap, they only sell them in pairs, so if you attemted to order qty 1, you'll get 2 halves.
Just a tip; pay attention when removing the old bearings. The doubles have one hole that is larger than the other. The large hole is oriented in the middle of each tube. If installed backwards it will cause noticeable binding/stiffness of operation.

That's weird, because when I ordered them I got the metal ones. The web site said that they were packaged 2 to a pack, so I ordered 2 of each thinking I would get 4 sets. That is not the way that they came. I called Premier Aviation (iwantcessnaparts.com) and asked them about that and that the price they charged me did not agree with their web site prices, she said that they have a $25.00 minimum charge, I thought I was ordering 4 sets of bearings and that would have made my bill $3.13 for each one which would have brought me to the $25.00 minimum. I ordered the other bearings that I needed that should have come with the original order, since the web site said they were packed 2 to a pack. I guess it was just my misunderstanding, but will most likely be the last time I order from Premier Aviation.
