What wire to replace P-Lead's?

Post by j3pup »

As my P-Leads are spliced right before they go through the firewall, I want to replace them. What wire standard and gauge is recommended?

Thanks,

Randy

Randy,
Take a look at your 170 Illustrated Parts Catalog pages 124A, B & C to see the 170 wiring diagram and the wire sizes. The diagram on 124A says the Magneto "P" leads are numbers 35 and 36, on page 124B 35 & 36 are discribed as #18 Shielded Wire 34 inchs long each.

I replaced my P-Leads last year with shielded wire and solder sleeves from Terminal Town. Here is a link: http://www.terminaltown.com/Pages/Page93.html.

Very easy and a very neat installation on both ends.

Thank John, I wasn't sure if I could trust the IPC on wire or not. Especially since the mags and igntions have had so many AD's.
