With the recent cold weather I have noticed that everytime I go out to fly my plane, the airspeed inicator needle is up around the 40 knot mark. Also, after my last flight the needle was stuck at 60 after I landed and I had to tap it to get it to drop. Is my indicator hooped or do you think it could be a static port plug? Also, is it hard to install a new one? this one looks like the original.
Thanks

Hi Ken...I have the same problem all the time. When the airplane was tied outside it was really bad. I had the pitot system blown out and plenty of water came out. Airspeed once again indicated zero on the ground. Functioned well for a few more weeks and the problem came back to a lesser extent...even with a positive seal on the pitot tube. Now with the airplane in a hangar, I still have the airspeed indicator once again reading 10 or 20 mph on the ground. Perhaps moisture condensing inside the pitot line or airspeed indicator itself? AI has noticed it on my annual, so it's coming out for investigation. Perhaps the installation of one of those clear plastic sump bottles will help...
