Carburetor, which is right

I sent my carburetor out for service and inspection. The carb off the engine, an 0-300, turns out to be a 10-2971 which the repair shop says is for a Franklin engine. They say the correct carb is a 10-4895. Does anyone have any experience with this model? I want to use the right model, but hate to b...

OK grey wool it is. Has anyone tried the Aircraft Spruce headliner? It seems they must have it made by someone else?

Headliner

We are ready to order a new headliner. We had planned on wool but has anyone installed Vinyl? Also there is a great price difference between Airtex ($300) and Aircraft Spruce ($236). Has anyone had any expierence with either? It looks like a pain to install. Any suggestions? Yes I know " hire s...

It looks like the hinge on the newer doors could be used but you would have to drill new holes, so I thought changing the hinge would look better. No one has said if they are interchangable? The later doors have a lock latch that the old ones do not have.

I tried a set of 1978. 172 doors on my 49,170. They look like they will fit with just a change of the hinge? Does this work?

Riser caps

Thanks for the info, as you can tell I'm new at this. As I looked at the tanks the tops seemed to want to collect water and there is a mod. Am I being too concerned about this? Is this a usual change that 170 owners routinely do? I decided to change the screws on the tank panel to SS, then cleaned a...

Fuel filler neck

I have my fuel tanks out for service. Has anyone changed the fuel fill to one that does not have the depression that looks like it holds water? Does water get into the tank from this fill? This is on a 49A model.

I use rainx on glass and am very happy. I would NEVER use it on any plastic as it contains alcohol and as it starts to dry and you are rubbing it off it will scratch. I have used Johnson's Pledge non- arasol type (hard to find) It not only cleans everything including bugs but will actually repell du...

170A Rudder

I have found a crack in my rudder spar a 1949 170A serial #19080. Will a rudder off a B model fit as a replacement?
