Hi
New member with a question on oil level. Does anyone have a part number for the correct oil gauge. My gauge has 531081 on it. My problem is I put 6 qts. in but the gauge only reads 4 qts.
Thanks for any help.
Keith
PN 628410A1 is the current, correct oil gauge rod (dipstick) for a 170 with the original C145/O300 engine and conventional landing gear.
Seaplanes using this gauge will be overfilled, (as will 170s on tricycle gear such as early 172's) and should use PN 628413A1.

If you are not a member of Aviator Services at TCM LINK you should be. It's free and has lots of Service Bulletins/Letters available for you. http://www.tcmlink.com/
Have your engine serial number an operating hours available.

Good God Dave! REMARK a Dipstick? You'd need a DER, DAR, A&P,
IA, blessing from the FSDO of the FAA of theUSA and a very small
toolmakers three cornered file. After all, we're only mortals and this is akin to Rocket Science. Tell me truthfully, would you knowingly fly in an airplane that was powered by a Continental O-300 engine with dipstick having bootleg quantity markings?
Good point BL. I've forgotten how many dipsticks I've remarked and I guess I shouldn't even admit to it. Sorta like admitting to using Lemon Plege on the glass.

Report to your local FSDO (fuzz-do?) for confession & punishment.
I tried to get to your website and just got an error "page cannot be displayed" I've been getting that a bit since I ran my adware and spyware programs a day or two ago. Guess I'll try it later. I've been working a bit on getting my own up (webpage that is) so that I'll have a good place to put pictures and be able to link to for my signature etc. I've found it to be a whole new geeky area of stuff to learn. Don't feel too geeky lately so progress is slow.
