Steve,
I too have a 1948 rag wing C170 SN 18727 ( last one made) and I am interested in extending the range by installing another 12.5 gallon tank in the left wing. I am concerned about what is involved with this installation.
I would appreciate your input on this matter ,at your leisure .
Thank You;
Bob

I thought about this when I did my wings but I decided I have to stop before the time range due to my older age. I do get better than 4 hrs on my 3 tanks which is enough for me. Every once in a while, I do wish that I would have done this if just for resale in the future.

thanks for all the replys,

p.s. bob my PM didn't show the second tank but thanks.

Sylvio said he just used a C-140 fuel tank to get the extra 12.5 gallons.

a second tank, yes

Post by cessnaford »

he takes a left hand 12.5 gallon tank out of a C-140. then where the fuel guage goes he welds that shut. then he adds the two throats for the front and back connections. its a fairly new stc, 2004 i believe. but you get your total up to 46 gallons.

My little tongue-in-cheek joke was in reference to an apparent error you made regarding the left/right sides.
