Bill Rusk,

I'd be a little reluctant to be so decisive on that precise a description of the "moose stall". In fact, the infamous "moose stall" is quite a variety of events.

The one common thread, though, is that the pilot failed to fly the danged airplane.

Old thread but more questions...

Why does the parts book say that if I am replacing the flap lever 0510166-2 on ser nos. 20267-26504, I must also replace the ratchet 0510171-1?

Do I have to change the latch assy 0510167 if I change the ratchet to the one with a 10 degree notch?

It's a placarding issue with regard to superceded parts. The aircraft subsequent to 26504 had the 10-degree setting. The flap lever assembly (superceding part-number 0510166-2, which is the (later) entire assembly including the 10-degree placard) would be incorrect without a 10-degree ratchet. (I know, they still list the early placard as available,...and it is...., but the later placard is also a "superceding" part number, and is already installed on the complete assembly. )

No, the 10-degree ratchet will work just fine with the early flap lever/latch.
