"Dubya"..... several of the most prolific contributors of this message thread are not members and it would remove their ability to participate if I moved the thread. I posted my long-winded disclaimer earlier in an effort to de-fuse the volatility of this discussion and I certainly do hop...

Re: Rear Seat Removal
"mod cessna" I see nothing correct in your last post, beginning with the reference to a document which does not exist for a Cessna 170..... (poh). The other examples you give are not germane, as they are different aircraft and Cessna marketing photos. If marketing information were certifi...

Re: Rear Seat Removal
Hmmm i made a long post but it is gone must have been the MAC. will try again... I don’t have a 170 poh so i do not have any examples from there. Reasons why removing your rear seat or your co-pilot seat is NOT A MAJOR ALTERATION. 1. Page 66 of my 1956 172 Owners manual has a note in the top RH pa...

Re: Rear Seat Removal
by gahorn on Sat Dec 13, 2008 4:11 am If you permanently remove the rear seat you should perform a new wt/bal and document the seat removal with a Form 337. (You have altered the airplane's basic design from a 4-place to a 2-place airplane. This is a major alteration, silly as it may seem.) As sill...

Re: Fuel anti-icing ?
The answer is 31.00 inches of mercury per FAR 91.144. This is a regulation that i had read in the past but never understood. That was until a few months ago on a long cross country. I found the information in the Alaska supplement. "a. Cold, dry air masses may produce barometric pressures in ex...

Re: Tube Sticking to Tire
I had the same problem with some 29x10 tires. They are much larger and from the factory they install stick on tire weights on the inside of the tire. Well come to find out these were installed by the customer. Well after just taxing we came back to an aircraft with a flat tire. The tire was ripping ...

Re: Tube Sticking to Tire
Was there a stick on tire weight on the inside of the tire? Some times the tube will stick to the weight. It looks like a rectangular patch.

IS this engine disassembled? Is this measurement just taken at the flange with the crankshaft still in the case?

Re: Landing gear dimensions
I do not think you can put a cessna gear leg in a Bolen gear box. The bolen gear box is not cessna parts like some of the other conversions. Besides the stc probably calls out the bolen gear pn not cessna gear. JR N171Q. I know you have bolen gear. You can tell by just looking at it. I thought there...

Re: Need 2 new cylinders
Wow... so here is an answer to your actual question I just purchased ECI cylinders from http://www.aeroinstock.com back in jan. They were very easy to deal with and shipped very fast. I see they are up to $709 for a new steel barrel cylinder. I think they were 650 when i purchased them. They also ha...

Re: Ultimate 170
Hiltop170- Those things really are amazing airplanes. What sort of range did you have? Im surprised it does not have under wing tanks like the blue has had. At least for the flight up. I also see in your picture it had some GIGANTIC antennas. What were those? I see they are gone.
